BITD Bilek 300 Alamo, NV
Nearly a summer has gone by without a real finish for the team. We have also went some rider changes, adding 2 new faces to the team.
The Bilek Racing 300 is one of the roughest races for the series, not because of the terrain, but because of the dust..err, I mean silt. Its thick, and hangs like a bad picture on the wall. The lack of any real wind made it even more interesting for the team.
Shaun started the 300 mile adventure 6th off the line and with heavy dust it was nearly impossible for anyone to pass in the first section. Justin mounted the quad at about mile 90, after the only flat tire of the day was changed. He experienced a white out too in his first section, unable to make up any considerable time after falling a position at the rider change. Justin then made up more than 2 minutes on his last section, coming in to the pits just after the now 5th place quad. Shaun rode off on his second 80+ mile ride of the day in hot pursuit of the team in front of him. He finished the section in 4th place after another team lost a motor, but had a bit of trouble of his own in some poorly marked switch backs earily in his ride. Justin then embarked on the final leg of the day, with a checkered flag just 50 miles away. Justin again made up time but it wasnt enough to secure a podium spot. The riders and crew were very happy about the finish as equipment problems have plagued the team in the last few races..
MRAN Night Race Series Round 1 Primm, NV
The Last 2 years ACE Racing has dominated the Night Race series and this year is no different.
Cody and Shaun decided to run these races individually as each rider would get more seat time. Cody started the race in 1st and finished the race in the same spot....but 20 mins. ahead of 2nd place. Shaun started just behind Cody. He got around Cody and lead the race for a time on the first lap but suffered electrical difficulties. The duo will be in action again July 11, stay tuned.
AMA Supermoto Round 3 Las Vegas, AZ
Shaun's Report from the AMA XTRM Supermoto in Las Vegas:
Shaun - He got great starts in both the heat and main races. Shaun fought his way up to 3rd in the heat race before a rider stalled his quad on a blind corner, leaving him no where to go. he eventually got around the rider but he ended up 6th rather than 2nd. In the main Shaun again had a pretty good start, passed a rider and stayed in 4th most of the race. He ended up getting passed late in the 8 lap race, finishing 5th. He ran very consitantly, and his 450mx ran very well, against many big bores as the Quad class is an "OPEN" one.
The AMA decided to let quads race in Round 3 of the AMA XTRM Supermoto Series. Shaun and Cody both ran well on the X games Style track.
Cody- He had to be one of the fastest riders on the track. he set blistering paces through the dirt section, and the pavement. the problem was he got tangled up off the start in both the heat and main races, forcing him to come behind. He ended up finishing 9th for the weekend, but he rode like a mad man.
